Four inch ( 4.25 inch square) full-tile image catcoasters are limited editions of 150 tiles and 10 proofs. Special Edition tiles, marked ( SE on the tile back), are limited to 125 with 5 proofs and are picks of my personal favorites.
Artist's Editions, marked ( AE on the tile back) will be limited to 100 tiles & 10 proofs, and have images somehow related to the world of art or a well known artist.
When any of the limited edition, special edition, or artists's edition catcoasters are sold out, for example 130 "Rescue Mission - Domino" Special Edition" catcoasters have recently been sold and it is now only available in the "classic edition" variety shown on the right, then the full sized image tile catcoaster, ( as shown on the left above), is officially retired from production because its limit of 130 for all SE or Special Edition tiles, has been reached. "Classic Edition" catcoasters, which have a small black border with the words " a catcoaster classic" at the bottom will be available with same image but cropped or reduced in size by 10-12 %. Although not part of any limited edition, they are still beautiful works of art and some customers like the "look" of the bordered classics more. The "Classic" catcoasters have clearly earned the title having sold out thier designated production limits . All catcoaster classic edition tiles are priced at $9.99 each, and 25 cents of that will go to help rescue cats in Florida. (see picture above which shows the different catcoaster tiles available.
Most of the 4.25" catcoasters, including limited editions and classic editions have a hard, deep gloss finish. However, some are semi-gloss and marked "M" on the back of the tile. Some customers prefer a slightly less reflective surface so I always make a few semi-gloss pieces of each catcoaster (or more if they are requested in an order). Gloss tiles are however the majority finish by far and are marked "G" on the tile reverse. If they have a semi-gloss finish they are marked "M" on the back of the tile, and on your signed receipt in the registration data area. (The M stands for matte-gloss in case you were wondering " why 'M'?? for semi-gloss??". That is because I am very fussy with my finishes and my semi gloss is actually somewhere inbetween satin and semi-gloss because my first coat is always gloss).
The images are put on tile in my Florida studio, not sent out and done by a machine or by cafepress etc. Tiles are highlighted with paint where needed to varying degrees, before being coated with a hard, protective coating. The process is unique as far as I know, and can be quite time consuming, but I don't mind putting a little extra time into attempting to get the perfect catcoaster tile!.
If not in stock, they take a few days to cure before they can be mailed. I use a 170 degree surface baking process which is usually repeated 4 to 5 times to get an approx. 15-28 mil thick hard, protective, water proof coat on the tile face. Although my previous small cat paintings on wood and canvas looked very nice when finished , I have grown over time to like the look of the finished tile catcaoster more than a finished painting on canvas or wood panel. Take the catcoaster challenge and put a catcoaster next to a any small cat painting and you be the judge!

My main focus is using my art to express my love of cats. I also love drawing and painting, and working with wood, metal and some interesting but green chemicals related to my finishes. I am determined to save part of my modest earnings to help rescue cats. I have recently started a small "catcoasters.com rescue fund" which is growing thanks to support from my customers, friends, and family. In December of this year, I plan to make a one time donation to Friends of Strays, where I met my cats. I will also put aside a small amount of the funds money for Community Aid Collections here in St Petersburg, an organization which helps homeless folks. ( All documentation will be posted on my website and in charity auctions)
Thank you so much for making catoasters.com a reality!

I will also be selling my new line of catcoaster minis soon ( they are just under 3" square by 1/4 thick tiles) with a full-tile size image on the face. They will come as magnetic, red and black felt backed, and velcro adhesive, and double sided adhesive backed gloss tiles and will all be open edition. ( Unlike the 4 inch limited edition catcoasters). I am in the process of developing new metal and painted wood display stands and trays including wooden catcoaster three, four, and "6 packs". ( painted or natural wood, hand made frames to hold 3, 4, or 6 catcoasters of your choice together in one frame that hangs on the wall like a picture). These look fantastic on the wall! I will be adding to the site and updating it once a month. I will also be including a "tribute" catcoaster page with custom catcoasters, and a "cat coat of arms" catcoaster, where you can have your cat's googly face in the middle with his/her name in the bottom of the shield area in a scroll. Other custom catcoaster ideas for your cats will be added as time goes by.
I currently have brown and white tabbies which I fell in love with at FRIENDS OF STRAYS in St. Petersburg, Florida. They're starting thier ritual to try to get me to feed them early- they never give up lol. I'll leave you with the thought that the baby's name is officially "Little Devil" =^..^= Speaking of real cats, later in the year I'll put up a page for member customers and thier cats. It will be called "friends of catcoasters.com", and will give members deep discounts on custom cats and trubute cat catcoasters. Just send a few pics of your cat or cats if you want them to be on the "friends of catcoasters.com" page to: robertellis@hotmail.com after you have purchased any two 4" catcoasters.
I will work hard to come up with new and interesting catcoasters and plan to be running catcoasters.com for the foreseeable future. I owe everything and am forever grateful to the customers and new friends who like my catcoasters enough to have them in thier own homes. I really appreciate that and I will always work hard to make catcoasters.com better each day and also to keep improving upon the quality of my art and tile surfaces. Thanks for visiting catcoasters.com
